Foundation is a Non Governmental/ Non profit Organization
working to support children in the poor tribal regions of Jharkhand. It works using
an "adopt a village" model, typically in
villages where a significant number of adults leave
daily to work either as daily-wage laborers or to
collect forest-produce for their daily livelihood,
leaving the very young or very old at home.
The Foundation
felt that a significant impact would be made by helping
the young children left at home channelise their energies
into activities that would give them and importantly,
their guardians, hope and confidence to develop into responsible teenagers and adults.
It focuses in developing in them a desire to dream
and achieve, to believe it is possible to get out
of the cycle of poverty and grind which the community
they live in suffers from. Thus much of our work revolves
around providing basic education including developing
mathematics, science and social knowledge along with
reading/writing skills, rounded off by introducing
them to art and craft.
The foundation also works extensively
with the district administration to ensure that adequate
government attention and follow-through on programs
is focused on these villages, whether it is for healthcare
support, drinking water provisioning or gram panchayat
monitoring, all of which ultimately provide the right
ecosystem for these children to develop. |
